Petworth Park and House (NT), Uppark a NT house outside Petersfield to visit.
Golf - a driving range and Golf course at Old Thorns 10 minutes down the road where you do not have to be a member with a very good Japanese restaurant.
Other places to visit
Guildford is half an hour towards London on the A3 offering all the high street chains and lots of coffee bars and restaurants. There is an Odeon complex and a sports centre (Spectrum) with swimming, ice-skating, bowling etc.
Portsmouth Gun Wharf Quays is a large retail outlet area with quayside restaurants, cheap discount shops (Gap, Ralph Lauren, Nike, FCUK etc) and a cinema complex, There is also The Victory and the Mary Rose and HMS Warrior.
Beach
The nearest beach is West Wittering near Chichester (about 40 minutes drive). Straight down the A3 towards Portsmouth and then left on the A29 to Chichester then just follow the signs to West Wittering. Long white beach with quite extreme high and low tides gets busy on hot days but there is lots of space!
Itchenor which you pass on the way to West Wittering has a good pub and is on the Chichester Estuary so there is a nice walk along the coast path but you cannot swim there. Lots of sailing at Itchenor.
Walks
There are lots of wonderful walks locally. From the bottom of the garden you join the common, which extends into a huge area of woodland and common.
Waggoners Wells a series of interconnected lakes, which make a very pleasant 1-2 hours, walk from home. (You can drive to the top of the lane and leave the car in the parking area)
Blackdown Wonderful National Trust area the other side of Haslemere lovely circular walks with incredible view across the South Downs and North Downs.
South Downs about half an hour away but well worth it lovely walks, wonderful views and lots of good pubs.
Pubs
In Liphook there is the Links pub near the golf course, which does good food and has a friendly atmosphere.
The Lickfold in Lurgashall has a good reputation for food and character
The Rams Nest near Chiddingfold has great fresh food and an extensive wine list. Pubs up in the Downs are superb.
