Blairquhan Castle is set in 2000 acres of beautiful countryside and was built in 1821–1824 by William Burn for Sir David Hunter Blair, the 3rd Baronet. His great great grandson now lives in the Castle, which provides the most superb setting for all aspects of entertaining.
The Castle offers accommodation for 6–25 people, on an exclusive fully staffed and catered basis. The catering is of a very high standard and wherever possible, produce from the Estate is used, including game and salmon, and fresh fruit and vegetables from the garden.
The Castle has about 70 rooms including a Billiards Room, with full-sized table, a Table Tennis Room, a Family Museum and a Picture-Gallery with a good collection of modern paintings mainly by the Scottish Colourists.
It is the ideal venue for every kind of event including weddings, company meetings, corporate events or luxury family holidays.
Corporate
There is a Conference Room that has with all the usual business facilities including overhead projector, flip chart, video facilities, fax and photocopying. The Castle is fully staffed and secretarial assistance can also be made available for your meetings.
There is a range of activities to be enjoyed locally and on the estate during your stay at the castle including fishing, pheasant and partridge shooting, golf at a number of Championship courses, clay pigeon shooting, quad biking, archery, and the list goes on!
Weddings
The wedding service itself can be held in the Castle, with seating capacity for 100. If you prefer there is a beautiful church in the nearby village of Straiton. We also have a civil wedding license.
Up to 50 guests can be seated in the Dining Room for the wedding meal, and up to 100 guests for a reception. For larger numbers a Marquee is available. The Castle and its grounds offer an ideal location for wedding photography.
Special wedding day menus can be provided just for you.
A 1936 Alvis 12/70 Drophead Coupé can be borrowed for the wedding.
During the summer, Blairquhan have an excellent array of flowers in the garden and these can be arranged by us in the Castle.
Glasgow Airport - 1 hour 15 minutes drive.
Prestwick Airport - 30 minutes drive.
Prestwick has frequent and inexpensive flights to London, Paris Dublin and Belfast.

The Castle has about 70 rooms including a Billiards Room, with full-sized table, a Table Tennis Room, a Family Museum and a private Art Gallery with a good collection of modern paintings mainly by the Scottish Colourists.
The 60 foot high ceilinged saloon is one of the first rooms you come into in the castle, and, like all the rooms in the castle is beautifully furnished with antique furniture and family paintings. Throughout the castle the attention to detail in the decoration and furnishings is strongly evident and most of the furniture throughout the property was specifically made by Morison of Ayr for the castle in 1824.
The Castle has accommodation for up to 25 people with 5 double bedrooms, 5 twin bedrooms and 5 single bedrooms. Many of the bedrooms have their own private bathrooms with the remainder sharing a bathroom with not more than one other room.
Accommodation at the Castle is let on a fully staffed and catered basis only, with the highest quality catering using, wherever possible, produce from the Estate, including game and salmon, and fresh fruit and vegetables from the garden.
Dogs may be welcome by arrangement only.

Blairquhan Castle is set in 2000 acres of beautiful countryside and the Estate offers a number of excellent walks. The pretty village of Straiton is approximately a mile away and can be accessed easily on foot from the Castle along an attractive river walk. From Straiton there are at least seven different walks allowing guests to explore a little more of Ayrshire on foot.
The village of Straiton has been voted one of Scotland's top 100 prettiest villages and boasts a good pub serving a selection of food as well as a well stocked village shop.
Fishing and Shooting
There is a high class pheasant and partridge shoot on the Estate.
Salmon fishing over 5 miles of the River Girvan.
Trout fishing on 3 Estate lochs.
Golf
The British Open Golf Championship courses of Turnberry and Troon are 14 and 20 miles away respectively, Prestwick, 16 miles, was the home of the first ever Open in the World, which was held in 1860, and the 15 subsequent Opens.
Dalvennan Country Sports
Just 10 minutes down the road near Maybole, Dalvennan Country Sports offers a range of more unique activities including clay shooting, archery, off road driving, quad biking and falconry.
Falconry displays can also be arranged at the castle, along with many other services and activities.
