Castello di Magona is a splendid historical home, just opposite the Island of Elba, which looks out onto an olive grove and is within easy reach of many interesting Tuscan towns and cities. Its gardens guarantee complete privacy. Its architecture, furnishings and décor are of late 16th century Tuscan style.

Brief History

The Castello di Magona was the residence of many Grand Dukes of Tuscany, but Leopold II was the one who lived there for a long time, during the land reclamation works in Maremma. The Castle is not a building of 1573, but a document dated 1529 testifies that originally there was already a Palace, and it was rearranged to become the Railway Administration of Campiglia.

In 1860, the Merciai family bought it, and in the first twenty years of 1900's it was rearranged with the supervision of the Monuments and Fine Arts Office. The Castle is one of the most important buildings in the Cornia Valley.
